Plant Connections Study I

We've been working on ways which we could connect a plant into the tube. We did not want to have the ends of the tubes open. From some precedent studies, we saw that people put flowers into the ends. We also wanted the flowers to be easily removed if someone wanted to take one with them.

We tried four different types of connections. Materials we bought from Stanley's Hardware and the Secret Garden, both located on Ridge Ave.

1. Cutting the top of a cup off to make it fit flush with the tube we then poked holes in the bottom for water to escape.

2. We got a thin mesh netting and placed a plant in it. We put that in the tube and then connected the mesh to the tube by wrapping it with wire.

3. We used the netting again and connected it to the tube with tiny hooks screwed into the cardboard.

4. We used the netting and connected it by hammering small brads and nails into the tube.
We have one last plant and tube that we put outside. It was connected with the first method and we are going to see how it reacts to the environment.

Coming next... some water studies with the different connections to see how the cardboard tube acts and holds up when the plant is being watered.
